AFTC Silver, the alternative to VHB tapes

Forty years ago 3M shocked the tape world by introducing high strength double-coated acrylic foam tapes called Very High Bond (VHB) tapes.  These tapes were a game changer.  They let all kinds of manufacturers eliminate mechanical fasteners like screws, rivets, nuts & bolts, and even welding by replacing them with this ultra strong tape.  This meant that you could also eliminate the prep work that went into using the mechanical fastener as well saving countless hours of labor.

To say that VHB tapes have been successful would be an understatement.  They are used in a very wide range of industries including, signs, display cases, trade show exhibits, truck and trailer assembly, and much more. The industries that have adopted using VHB tapes have discovered that they are fast, clean, easy to use and they deliver what they promise; a strong finished product that holds up as well or better than those put together with conventional fasteners.

VHB tapes can do this because of their unique combination of high strength acrylic adhesive and ultra-dense foam core. The adhesive migrates into surface imperfections and forms a strong mechanical bond that often exceeds the strength of the material itself. The ultra-dense foam core resists tearing and it also absorbs vibrations and the expansion and contraction caused by heat and cold. Mechanical fasteners will fail over time because of these issues.

Until recently all attempts by other manufacturer’s to come out with their own version of high performance acrylic foam tapes have been met with dismal failure.  But recently a European company called AFTC has come out with a line of tapes that is superior in many ways to the VHB product line and it is 35% to 45% less expensive.

We have been switching our customers from VHB to AFTC Silver tapes for about a year now and they love them.  Our customers are telling us the tapes work great and they are saving money to boot.

  77. I use a micro SD card between my laptop and netbook as an external hardrive for my class files. I often download files on one computer or the other without the drive in that computer. Is it possible to set my computer up so that when I insert my drive my computer automatically updates the folder on my removable drive with the folder on my computer?.
